This article comes from the observation of a recurrent parallelism between oneiric and virtual spaces in contemporary science fiction for young adults.

Since the beginning of third millennium, young adult and children’s books reveal the attraction for the wandering into virtual worlds (video games, social networks, metaverse…). Such trend coincides with the beginning of the anthropological mutation 2.0 of humanity. Thus, contemporary young adult fiction plays an important role in the revival of the cyberpunk, developing an evocative analogy between the cyberspace and the world of dreams. The investigation of youth identity process in the hypermodern era is fed by the contemporary anxiety of the dream manipulation and by the perception of psychic life homologation and surveillance. This is effect of the change in the concept of dream in XXI century occurred by means of progresses in neuroscience : the concept of dream as concrete entity is leaving the borders of science fiction in order to significantly model the contemporary imaginary.
ER -
